Melbourne has been undergoing significant changes in terms of how the city ‘feels’ to dwellers, how it is presented on the global stage and more importantly how the city looks literally. As it is, Melbourne is already known for its constantly evolving skyline owed to the various completed and uncompleted construction projects.
These construction projects are not just about churning the economy and creating employment, as a matter of fact these projects are mainly about upgrading the city, keeping people happy and about making Melbourne on of the best cities to live in or visit on the planet.
There are numerous projects that are still underway that will make Melbourne a better place and below are some of the more significant projects that are streamlined towards making Melbourne ‘the’ top city in the world!
The Melbourne Metro Tunnel project is among one of the more ambitious project to say the least and the project objectively establishes an all new rail tunnel that connects the Sunbury and Dandenong lines.
Apart from that the Metro Tunnel project will see five new underground stations spread across the city which will not just transform Melbourne’s public transportation system, but also reform the transportation system as it is expected to ease congestion in the CBD significantly.
Similarly the West Gate Tunnel Project is also another major infrastructure project that sees a construction of a new tunnel and also the widening of the West Gate Freeway which is expected to improve traffic flow between the city and western suburbs significantly and reducing travel durations.
Another construction project that has raised eyebrows not just domestically, but internationally as the Queen Victoria Market Redevelopment has attracted significant levels of foreign investments.
Recognised as one of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks the Queen Victoria Market is currently being transformed through the infrastructure upgrades and the creation of new open spaces whilst preserving the heritage buildings in the area.
Another project that is going to forever change the Melbourne skyline is the Southbank by Beulah project. The building is soon to become Australia’s tallest tower and according to sources the Southbank by Beulah project is a mixed-use development project that will feature residential apartments, hotel accommodation, office spaces, and various public amenities.
The Melbourne Quarter project is another massive project currently being executed right in the heart of Melbourne. The project will create an entirely new precinct which will include residential towers, retail outlets, expansive landscaped areas and office spaces.
From an economical point of view, these projects have breathed new life into the construction industry after the long break due to the pandemic.
These construction projects have revived the entire construction rental industry as these companies are increasing their fleet size as demand for equipment such as excavators for hire have started to peak above supply capacity.
Most of these contractors do not own their own equipment as they find it more convenient to take equipment such as excavators on rental.
